Cedar

Quality first!

Did you know that cedars offer many advantages in terms of durability and robustness? Since they practically never rot and keep insects at bay, they’re much more resistant to the elements and the whims of the weather.

Want to find out more? Take a look at the following sections and you too will be convinced of the many benefits of this wood specie of choice!

Did you know…

Amerindians have been using Eastern white cedar for medicinal purposes for many centuries.

White cedar

Light brown when freshly cut, Eastern white cedar gradually evolves to a uniform silvery-gray over the years. It gives off a spicy, aromatic scent, making all your construction and renovation projects a pleasure!

To date, all the latest technological research has failed to imitate the unique characteristics and performance of the white cedar. Its natural color variations, tight grain and soft texture cannot be reproduced by plastic or composite materials.

Main uses

As well as being widely used as an ornamental tree in outdoor yards – notably to form screens and hedges – cedar can also be used in a number of ways, including:

  • Exterior and interior shingles
  • Posts and fence boards
  • Clothing storage boxes
  • Wall decor boards
  • Firewood
  • Horticultural products (mulch, playground fiber)

And so much more!

Unique features

In addition to its pleasant scent, cedar has the following characteristics, to name a few:

  • High resistance to rot and insects
  • Outlasts other wood species
  • Regenerates very quickly after cutting
  • No chemical preservatives required
  • The lightest wood specie in Canada
  • Can be used both indoors and outdoors
  • Provides a smooth, even texture and fine grain
  • Nails easily without splitting
  • Excellent acoustic and thermal qualities
  • Is used in its entirety: all its parts have a precise function
